In the late 1800’s, Giuseppe Benanti began producing wine on one of his father’s old farms on the slopes of Mount Etna at Viagrande (Catania). In 1988, his grandson, also Giuseppe Benanti, decided to revive his grandfather’s old passions with an extensive and selective study of Etnean soil and viticulture. He also studied clones of indigenous vines and winemaking techniques used to produce ancient fragrances using modern practices. His goal was to find the perfect union of history and reality. This five year study led to the unique wines we love from Benanti today; wines with strong personality that carry the culture and passions of the Benanti family.
